Now that his stud career is finished and most of his named foals have had a chance to show their ability I thought it was time to have a look at him in some detail.
One obvious outcome to his stud career was that it was exceptional. I have 2201 named foals of his in my database and of them 173 were group winners. To think that 1 in every 12 foals he sired was a group winner is perhaps the most important statistic to judge him by. If one adds Listed & Group placed individuals he sires those through out his career at a better than rate than 1 in every 6.
Other facts worth a mention is are that he's been mated with mares from 418 different sires.
With 332 of these broodmare sires he never produced a single group winner. He certainly never worked with Seeking The Gold, Gone West, Indian Ridge and Caerleon. He was mated 47 times with mares by them, many of them group winning mares themselves, with no stakes winners produced let alone group winners.
Of the 2201 foals 740 were produced from stakes winning mares so more than 1 in every 3 matings was with a stakes winning mare. Indeed 512 of the 740 were out of group winning mares. So almost 1 in 4 of the mares he was mated with were group winners.
